“Climate Change is a moral issue…” Pope Francis
Pope Francis + The Carbon Underground address the Moral Action on Climate Change Rally in Washington, DC.
As the world knows, Pope Francis has become one of our planet’s strongest and most outspoken voices in the fight against climate change. Calling it a moral issue, the Pope released a rare encyclical calling for immediate action to fight the elements changing our climate, and warning against the perils of, among other things, “synthetic agrotoxins.”
The visit of His Holiness to Washington to speak to the US Congress about climate change included a large and broad-based religious coalition, Moral Action on Climate Change, that came together to create a major live event on the National Mall that was broadcast around the world. The Carbon Underground was asked to present the soil story to the crowd, as it was deemed to offer hope on “the biggest issue facing humanity.”
The Carbon Underground produced a short inspirational public service announcement to help define the message for the rally.
