New University Certificate Program for Regenerative Organic Agriculture
A 10-month Regenerative Organic Agriculture Certificate Program is the first regenerative agriculture program in the US and includes hands-on farming experience. The course is being offered at the Maharishi University of Management (MUM) as part of their Bachelor’s in Sustainable Living.
Carbon Underground Co-Founder Tom Newmark will be a member of the guest faculty.
Completion of the certificate program will provide students with:
• A certificate in Regenerative Organic Agriculture underwritten by International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (IFOAM), Demeter, Agribio, and MUM
• Connections to food hub internships, farm-to-table operations, and urban food programs
• Apprenticeship opportunities in organic and biodynamic farms in the U.S., Nepal, Italy, Costa Rica, and Bali
The program is designed for a diversity of participants, including organic farmers, food advocates, food system leaders, entrepreneurs, farm-to-table advocates, and slow food movement activists.
The program will be led by Dr. Appachanda Thimmaiah, a lifelong advocate for low-cost organic farming solutions worldwide and advisor to international organizations, agri-business corporations, governments and NGO’s in India, Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Italy, Holland, and Costa Rica. He facilitated Bhutan’s transition to the world’s first 100% organic and carbon neutral nation.
